One of our best clients has asked us to help them in their search for a strong QA Automation Engineer to join their growing team. This will be a permanent position, and you must have the ability to work directly with the client with no visa transfer necessary in order to be considered for the position.



The Quality Assurance Automation Engineer (QAAE) serves as the primary resource for automating the GUI, functionality, and load/performance test scenarios for multiple web applications. The QAAE is responsible for developing automated tests using the HP/Mercury testing suite and creating automated GUI regression, functional, and load/performance tests for multiple projects. QAAE will work closely with the project team to determine the scope of testing required on a given project and to create reports for analysis.



The QAAE also writes test plans and test cases in Quality Center from business requirements, executes both manual and automated test cases, provides testing status, tracks software defects /enhancements, and verifies software fixes. The QAAE works in close collaboration with software development staff to assist in the reproduction and resolution of defects.



The majority of testing efforts center around Web based applications. Currently Browser testing is IE 6, IE 7, IE8 and Firefox, but also includes selected testing in Safari. Desktop and Server applications are tested on Windows XP, 2003, Terminal Services, OSX and Citrix.



Essential Functions:



. Initially, the QAAE will be involved in manual testing as we ramp up. Position will grow into automation as a primary function/responsibility, approximately 80%.



. Lead Automation effort to create Automation Framework and automate manual test cases



. Serve as the primary resource for creating, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts for regression, functional, and load/performance tests



. Provide support for manual testing, including analyzing requirements, developing and executing manual test cases, and reporting defects



. Provide breakdown of QA tasks and time estimates for project planning in regards to automated and load/performance testing and manual testing (when applicable)



. Provide input in developing quality assurance standards in regards to manual, automated, and load/performance testing



. Write clear and precise defect reports as required for identified software defects and functional defects based on testing results



. Identify, analyze, and report test results for manual and automated test scripts



. Train other members of the QA Team to maintain and execute automated test scripts

Experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



. 3+ years of web based application testing



. 2+ years with QTP and Quality Center



. Successful creation of an automation framework (must have gone through the process of setting up automation)



. Strong understanding of multiple automation frameworks/models (i.e. data driven, keyword driven)



. SQL proficiency



. Ability to write easy-to-understand and reusable automation test scripts



. Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously and transition between projects



. Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle process



. Ability to apply QA best practices from project inception to deployment and beyond



. Superior attention to detail



. Strong interpersonal and communication skills



. Ability to follow complex written instructions



. Excellent written and verbal skills



. Self-directed and creative problem solver



. Productive in group and solo project environments





Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



. BS or beyond, Computer Science or closely related field



. Experience with Load Runner preferred
